Wow! It’s hard to believe it has already been one year since KnoxMac launched as a full-time business. The idea was to focus entirely on Apple and Macintosh support and that’s what we did. The timing was good too. Right now is one of the most exciting times to be involved with Macs. The iPhone has led to more people buying Macs for their homes and businesses and we won’t have to wait too much longer to see the effects of the iPad.

I know 2009 was a tough year for a lot of people and I feel very fortunate to have been able to live the dream of having my own company. My very supportive family, friends, and clients have made this first year very memorable and so much fun. Year two starts now, so stay tuned for some new and exciting things on the horizon. If you have a Mac, we can help!

Thank you all so much!
Brian Jacobus – Owner

And a little trip down memory lane….

Apple has just released an update to Snow Leopard that includes a bunch of fixes. Improvements to fonts, graphics, Mail, MobileMe, network file systems, printing and faxing, and Safari are what to look forward to.

Now that we are in to the second update release of Snow Leopard it seems like a good time to upgrade if you have been waiting. Make sure to check any 3rd party software you rely on and look for issues with any printers you use on the manufacturers website before doing any operating system upgrades.

Most Intel Mac’s will work with Windows 7 and Boot Camp. If you have an iMac, MacBook Pro, or Mac Pro from 2006 you will be unable to use Windows 7 and Boot Camp.

Microsoft has announced that a new version of Outlook will replace Entourage in 2010 in the Office suite for Mac. If you remember, Outlook was originally included with Office for Mac but was replaced in favor of Entourage years ago. Entourage has always been a step behind the PC version of Outlook but has made significant improvements in the last couple of revisions. The new version of Outlook for Mac is supposed to mirror the PC version even closer and should be a big hit with Mac users in larger organizations that rely on Microsoft Exchange for email, calendaring, and contacts. The big bonus is that Outlook will work better with TIme Machine backups!

Also, Microsoft is slimming down the Office 2008 offerings from three versions to two. The Home and Student Edition and a new Business Edition will be the only two options.
